Project H20: Season 1 Wavebreak

Our “Wave 4 til no more” reached almost 4,000 packages & covered every quarantined homeless person in a hotel in LA county!! PRAISE JESUS!! Thank you for being a part of the impact in tremendous ways!!

The packages of much needed toiletries, mask, and handwritten note with truth of God’s love have become a part of the transition for the homeless that have qualified for more intermediate and long-term housing!

Here are just a couple of responses we have received:

We are in discussion & prayer about what Season 2 may look like. As we enter this new phase of quarantine lasting longer than anticipated, we are seeking God on what opportunities He will invite us to be a part of!

Zooms to Neighborhoods to Cities

Have you heard, “When Covid is over, then…” or “We can’t ____ and can’t _____” but what if those weren’t the whole truth? Sure, maybe there are some things we can’t do right now, but what is that is redirecting us to MANY things we can do!

How many phone numbers do you have in your phone? Have you prayed for, reached out, and asked each one how you can be praying for them and if they be up for hearing a story of hope or THE story that is bringing you hope in this season?

How many Facebook, Instagram, etc. friends do you have? Could you do the same in caring for them? Thats probably a few thousand people without even leaving the couch.

What about the co-workers on zoom? Family members? And even inviting your neighbors to chat & discuss stories of hope together on zoom? Praying walking the neighborhood each time you stretch your legs from being cooped up, what if that changed the spiritual atmosphere of your entire surroundings?!

A friend sharing doing simple Discovery Bible Studies, sharing testimonies of God at work, and sharing the good news through short videos on FB and Youtube, the response has been thousands of views so far and the beginnings of conversations. What could you do? Even if it’s not how it was normally done?

Sometimes, you just need the belief that something is possible in order for anything happen…

Wave 3 to 3000! Wave 4 til no more!

LAHSA has currently quarantined 3,000 homeless in hotels across Los Angeles, with more moving in each week until further notice.

GUESS WHAT?!

Project H2O has completed 2,500 packages with supplies on the way to complete 3,000 THIS WEEK to go with the cards & masks you make & deliver!!!

God took a small goal of 100 packets in 3 days and blessed it through YOU to reach every single homeless person quarantined in hotels with God’s love through Word & deed - after just over ONE MONTH from launching!!!!

Starting June 1st, we are launching “Wave 4 - til no more!” Til there are no more hotel rooms to deliver the packages and every single person has been engaged with the good news through the handwritten card, mask, and toiletry kits. Join/Continue with us!

They estimate from a few hundred to 1,000 homeless that are still in process of being quarantined in this season. We can do it together!! God is providing & our packages can be the first thing these people receive as they transition - God’s loving truth & basic needs met in the name of Jesus!

Waves of Miracles & now LAHSA!

EXCITING UPDATE! We are now an OFFICIAL partner with LAHSA (Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority), giving us access to every hotel & person being quarantined with full FREEDOM to speak about Jesus!! The miraculous story is below.

What started as a trickle a few weeks ago is now a gushing fire hydrant, flooding the city of L.A. with God’s love, especially among the homeless and vulnerable being quarantined in hotels.

WAVE 1 of 100 packages is still having a transforming impact on the first hotel. The culture has literally shifted and the news is spreading throughout the first responders working at the hotels across LA.

One man who was a tremendous trouble maker was so touched by the package with the handwritten card speaking truth to his identity and who God is, that he has turned 180 degrees and is now referred to as a “saint,” lifting other up instead of tearing them down.

This story has multiplied through the hotel and even given Project H2O a reputation of being not only welcomed but invited to make an impact in more places! Our first responder friend has also been able to minister further in talking about Jesus & finding people who want to know more! He said that the testimonies coming from his hotel after Project H2O, are nothing like the tumultuous issues others are dealing with.

WAVE 2 of 1,000 packages are still in the process of being delivered all across hotels in Los Angeles. Please continue to pray!!

The day after Wave 2 finished, we were told that all first responders were being moved out of the hotels. They were our insiders to deliver the packages…but right away, God started opening doors with different shelters for the vulnerable that we could bless in the name of Jesus & offer to connect with anyone who wants to know more about the true source of hope in following Jesus. HOWEVER, GOD HAD EVEN MORE IN-STORE…

WAVE 3 is now is an official LAHSA partner! We can literally see no place left among the quarantined hotels where the gospel hasn’t reached!! God has provided the open doors to deliver, we just need YOU to make it possible!

Our first responder is in a leadership role, and therefore, many people ask him about what is happening in his hotel and as he shares the stories, he has asked his friends if they’d be willing to receive Project H2O in their hotel. One friend said yes, but then time was cut short by the county. So that friend asked one of his friends, who works for LAHSA if he had any ideas…

TURNS OUT he is a believer, one of the top leaders, and had been praying and probing LAHSA for a faith-based initiative to launch for the homeless to receive welcome packages AND talk about God when they arrive at the hotels. When he heard about Project H2O, he was blown away!! He thought he’d have to build it from scratch, but God was already a few weeks ahead of him with YOU AND ME!!

ONE THE LAST DAY that we had access to the few hotels through our friend, GOD opened doors with a new friend to access EVERY HOTEL in LA and freedom to openly share with JESUS with every person being quarantined in them, through the invitation and covering of LAHSA.

With the extended quarantine, they are extended the homeless being in hotels AND increasing their numbers. There are over 2500+ in the hotels and hundreds more being moved in every week. WE have an opportunity to reach ALL OF THEM in this unique time, TOGETHER.

Every single card, mask, donation, text message, phone call, drive, prayer, and more has come together like the grains of sand that make the beach!! The waves are flooding our city in impact!!

As momentum rises, we’ve launched WAVE 3: 5,000 by May 23rd! Expanding from “Homeless to Hotels Opportunity” to “Hope to Others” including the homeless, domestic violence shelters, and at-risk youth!

What happened these past 10 days?!?

God moved & did what seemed impossible! 1,000 in 10 days sounded crazy. BUT… with the speedy coming together of over 24 churches across Greater Los Angeles (including YOU) there are:

• 1,043 handwritten cards with God’s truth

• 1,624 masks (554 handmade cloth, 1070 disposable - packed in pairs)

• 112% funded covering toothbrush, toothpaste, bar of soap, comb, and candy

WOW!! PRAISING JESUS!! Let’s pause and PRAY for those who be delivering & receiving these!!

A Few Wave 2 God Moments:

• A lady who used to be homeless on skid row wrote 30 cards, sharing that she wants to give back because of how God has blessed her! A team member that knows her said, “It’s a beautiful story of how we once ministered to her and now she is paying it forward.”

• Just the night before, all the supplies for 1,000 packages was ordered and paid in faith that the donations, cards, and masks would come in. That night multiple people gave and the lady from skid row gave the final amount needed to cover all the expenses from the night before!

• A friend invited her neighbors to create cards over zoom together, some responded that they aren’t religious but love the idea! This opened doors for them to read, write, and talk about God’s truth for the first time!

• Within 48 hours, people from 4 different churches helped assemble the 1,000 packages (by picking up a set to take home & work on) & even more offered to help!

• Wave 1 continues to positively impact the culture at the 1st hotel of 100 people, watching films about Jesus, and a possible person of peace (Luke 10:1-12). Please continue to PRAY!

A Few Wave 2 Fun facts:

• A person shared with a person, who shared with a person - who gathered 100 handwritten cards from their community in another county!

• A friend of friends saw a Facebook post and mailed 50 handmade masks from North Carolina.

• People from 5 different states donated towards Project H2O.

• Friends of friends from decades ago are jumping in & mobilizing their friends to help.

Project H20: Wave 1 RECEIVED!! Gospel follow up begins.

THANK YOU all for your hard work on Wave 1! Please join us for 1,000 in Wave 2, drop off/arrange pick up by THIS Sunday night, May 10th.

We’ve already begun receiving phone calls from those who have received the packages, please pray.

Report #1: A woman named “Valencia” was feeling very lonely and depressed, all alone inside her hotel room. When they knocked on her door and gave her the package of goodies, she immediately started reading the card and she was moved to tears. She said: “This is exactly what I needed! You have no idea! Thank you so much! God bless you!!!”

Report #2: As our first responder friend walked into the hotel the day after delivering the packages, and there are men who are usually out there smoking and don’t say hello to him. This time, they did. Not only that, they all said thank you for everything but especially the masks and the cards. They said they were all wearing their new hand-made masks which are so much more comfortable than the surgical ones the government gives them.

Report #3: One guy said how much the encouraging note in his bag meant to him and the others chimed in and said the same thing. He also said he started watching the recommended videos about Jesus that we told them about and how he’s been enjoying them. The other men said, “Oh yeah...I want to see those too! I’ll do that today.”

Long story short, within 72 hours of launching, we surpassed out goal for Wave 1. WOW!!!

We have now launched WAVE 2, same details but BIGGER impact:

“10 days, 10 hotels, by 10th of May”

Here is a quick update on Wave 1 goal for 100 cards/cloths. Within 72 hours from launching, Project H2O engaged:

• 13 churches

• At least 14 cities across Greater LA / Southern California (4 counties)

  • with 9 pick up locations

• 238 cards

• 459 cloth masks for the homeless to be able to use, wash & reuse

LETS PAUSE AND PRAISE JESUS!

I love our city of Greater Los Angeles. Within a week of a hypothetical idea being discussed, the 100 packages will be assembled & delivered. There are 15+ hotels in LA county and now 400 units in Riverside county where homeless are being moved into during quarantine. We have the opportunity for a unique impact to reach them with God’s love in word & deed.

Project H2O has also become an official non-profit effort, all donations are now tax-deductible!

We have expanded to LA County, Orange County, San Bernardino County, and Riverside County in our impact.

Here are some mini miracles:

• 100 masks within a day of posting on FB

• Wave 1 was 118% funded within 30 hours of launching

• A mom shared that her 4 year keeps painting and drawing and she didn’t know what to do with the papers. Now, she wrote notes of prayer & the gospel on them, and her family together is a part of the impact!!

• A pastor shared they were blessed to be a part of a unique way to impact an area of society that is often overlooked - and so they wrote over 100 cards!

Time to jump into WAVE 2!! Goal is close to 1,000 people this time!! By May 10th!!

• 1000 masks - overflow of 359 = 641 needed

• 1000 cards - overflow of 138 = 862 needed

• $5000 - overflow of $75 = $4925 needed for toiletries & food to put into 1000 care packages

Project H2O is a non-profit effort pursuing the vision to Live Ten O Two until there is no place left.

Project H2O - The Beginnings

“Dream again. What can you do now that you couldn’t do before and won’t be able to do later?” - my mentor repeated to me multiple times…

In a WhatsApp prayer group with some friends, the wife of a first responder messages, “My husband has been put in charge of a hotel that they are moving homeless across LA into during quarantine…please pray.'“

Falling asleep one night shortly after, an idea comes to mind…”what if…..”

I text the same group the next morning, they seem to like the idea. A little while later I ask, “anyone interested in putting it into action together? Let me know & we can zoom.”

Last Saturday, a handful of us zoomed for 1 hour and turned a hypothetical idea into a planned reality. Launched Project H2O (Homeless to Hotels Opportunity - to flow Jesus’ living waters through the place) 48 hours later. Within 30 hours of launching, we are 118% funded & have all 100 cloth masks donated!! There are 7 pick locations across LA from Playa Vista to Huntington Beach to Claremont to La Crescenta.

God is blowing this out of the waters!!! We’ve given people only 72 hours to implement & be a part of the impact and they are jumping in. To close out, we’ll have 24 hours to collect all the cards around LA, assemble 100 care packages* and deliver to the first responder who will then one to each homeless person in that is being quarantines in the hotel.

PLEASE PRAY FOR PROJECT H2O.

*Each care package will have a washable cloth mask, toothbrush, toothpaste, shampoo, a bar of soap, comb, chips, candy (sugar helps cut drug cravings), granola bar, a card with a phone number for follow up next to media links like the Chosen App & Jesus Film, and most importantly, a handwritten, prayed over, card with a message of truth spoken in love - the gospel.

What's your QO?

Right now, we have new opportunities we didn't have 2 months ago and may not have 2 months from now. What are those strategic opportunities for us to reach the harvest that is plentiful in quarantine? What’s YOUR QO (Quarantine Opportunity)?

All through scripture, we see God use people during unusual times. WE are in unusual times. At the same time, God has given us many promises, here are just two:

1. For we are God’s handiwork, created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do. - Ephesians 2:10 (NIV)

2. And he said to them, “The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few. Therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest. - Luke 10:02 (ESV)

From God’s Word, we KNOW the harvest is plentiful and God has made YOU for good works! This pandemic and resulting quarantine are no surprise to God, so what is your QO?

Who are people you’ve met in the different seasons of life you could reconnect with & share Jesus? What are some unique ideas you could rally a small team to do together to share the gospel? What if it could multiply? What opportunities can you uniquely find to reach the harvest that is plentiful in your life, neighborhood, workplace, city, nation?

GOD prepared YOU to reap a harvest that is PLENTIFUL! You got this! So…what’s your QO? Who are 5 people you can ask, “What’s your QO?”
